Visions of Austria

The 19th special in WLIW's Visions series takes viewers to the heart of the Alps while capturing the idyllic essence of what was once called Central Europe's crown jewel. Filmed in winter and spring, the special takes flight in the west and travels east to locations including Bregenz, a popular vacation destination for sun and skiing; Innsbruck, site of the 1964 and 1976 Winter Olympic Games; Tirol, the most mountainous part of Austria; and Salzburg, filled with extravagantly ornamented plazas, soaring bell towers and church domes. Gliding over picturesque streets and spacious squares, the helicopter-mounted camera follows the Danube River down to the capital city of Vienna, seemingly led by the sounds of compositions by "Waltz King" Johann Strauss, arranged by André Rieu, and native son Franz Schubert.  A WLIW New York Production. Companion series website visionsof.org launches March 1 - video preview streaming now!
