Zucchero: Live in Havana-La Sesion Cubana

The international superstar known as “Zucchero” is back on public television as he kicks off his long awaited US tour.  For anyone who has been missing out on the unique musical taste of the man his fans call “Sugar” all these years, “La Sesion Cubana” is a great introduction.  The Italian rock star and OMRI (the Italian equivalent of knighthood) energizes the crowd with his signature style rooted in gospel, soul and rock music, his set alternating between ballads and more rhythmic pieces. Zucchero’s four-decade career has included a wide range of musical partnerships including Joe Cocker, Ray Charles, Miles Davis, Eric Clapton, Luciano Pavarotti (his partner in launching the “Pavarotti & Friends” project), Sting, Andrea Bocelli, Brian Wilson and U2.  In “Live in Havana,” recorded in 2012, Zucchero performs in English, Spanish and Italian, including some of his best known songs –  “Baila (Sexy Thing),” Così Celeste,” “Cuba Libre,” “L’Urlo,” “Everybody’s Got to Learn Sometime” — and a new Italian cover of  the Spanish classic “Guantanamera.”
