The Hicksville Gregory Museum is Long Island’s Earth Science Center. Within the walls of the Heitz
Place Courthouse built in 1895 are many displays of fossils, minerals, butterflies and seashells.
The old courthouse jail houses historical displays and one of the few remaining Pauly Company jail
cells in Nassau County. The museum also has educational programs which range from kindergarten
through high school and Girl and Boy Scout merit badge programs. An educational program guide is
available from the museum. Hours are Tuesday — Friday, 9:30 am to 4:30 pm; weekends 1-5 pm.
