What a wonderful experience!! Every college student should be required to view this show and use it as a sring board for their gap year. To pbs, what took you so long to produce this masterful show?

This was the best film I have ever seen on television. It should be shown in all United States High Schools.

To all our friends out there , known and unknown , and to all of you who have taken the time to blog , Thank you so very much ! I can’t begin to tell how much all of your kind words mean to both denis and I ! We are truly overwhelmed by your generosity of spirit . It really makes all the hardship worthwhile , knowning that you’ve touched someone life in such a positive way ! It’s a big responsibility - that we both intend to live up to …. FYI there where many times during the expedition that we wanted to quit , turn back , go home - more often then not the thing that kept us going were all of the people who believed in us ! Thanks for renewing this ground we walk on as we continue this last phase of our journey ! For the next few years we will be traveling around the country giving presentations - so tell everyone you know - better yet if you know of any Club , Organization, Society or School that would be interested ,Please ask them and let us know ! Once as newly made friend smuggled us across a closed border he said in parting ” Even Marco Polo must have needed help sometimes!” francis@returntovenice.com

This was a wonderful program. I attended the presentation at the Convention celebrating teaching and Learning and I nominate Francis O’Donnell and Denis Belliveau for next year’s Key Note Speakers. Their journey is inspirational.

I loved this program. I just stumbled on it on KQED in San Francisco and enjoyed more than even the best professional travelogues because their experiences were so real and genuine. Great job guys!!!

"It was the best-documented journey of its time, inspiring the imaginations and ambitions of countless adventurers, including Christopher Columbus. Now we, too, can follow in the footsteps of Marco Polo, with guides as vividly exciting and engaging as Marco himself. With both their film and this book Denis and Francis have recreated what Joseph Campbell would have applauded as 'The Hero's Journey.' Come take it yourself and you'll never turn back."
