The Yuan Dynasty of Marco Polo’s days looked much different than the images shown here. The people and costumes here look very SE Asian. The China of ancient times dressed very differently from what is shown here. The recent Hallmark TV presentation of Marco Polo seemed quite authentic as far as dress, style and atmosphere.
Marco Polo traveled through many areas of the continent, including the southern regions of China that border Vietnam and Burma (as shown above)
Hallmark’s ” Marco Polo” had Brian Dennehy as Kublai Khan…Not very authentic! Far more real was Sergei Bodrov’s 2007 masterpiece, “Mongol.”
