Dudes: I loved your film — saw it yesterday on PBS — what an incredible documentary of the most amazing trip. I’ve been to Israel and Turkey and seen the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, so this was especially moving for me. I have always put PBS far above any other channel, and you’ve hoisted my opinion further up the pedistal. Keep those photos and travel documentaries comin! Thanks!

One of my main motivations for taking this journey was my Love for art, history, and culture! Looking back now to the days of my youth – I dreamed of having the chance to visit St. Peters on Christmas eve or Jerusalem and the Holy Sepulchre on Easter ect….. These things seemed at the time unattainable – but dreams do come true – sometimes beyond your wildest imagination – Like a soldier, the lone survivor of a Great Battle, one surveys the field and asks why, Why me? Why on Holy Saterday do I get to stand directly in front of the sepulchre while thousands, ten of thousands of pilgrams who have flock here from all over the world can not? Or Why is it me who gets to stand on the entrance of the famed Wakhan corridor in Afghanistan, knowing that no other westerner in a generation has travesed this most remote of passage ways? Ect… ect…ect… I have been truly Blessed, if I was to pass today – God, shiva, Buddha, the cosmos what have you does n’t owe me a thing !!! So as Joe would say “Follow your Bliss”

"It was the best-documented journey of its time, inspiring the imaginations and ambitions of countless adventurers, including Christopher Columbus. Now we, too, can follow in the footsteps of Marco Polo, with guides as vividly exciting and engaging as Marco himself. With both their film and this book Denis and Francis have recreated what Joseph Campbell would have applauded as 'The Hero's Journey.' Come take it yourself and you'll never turn back."
