The 21st annual Washington (DC) Irish Folk Festival held in May, 1997 brought together some of the finest names in Irish music and dance, including Sean Keane, the legendary Tulla Ceili Band and the Champion Irish Step Dancers featuring Donny Golden and Cara Butler. The Washington Irish Folk Festival traditionally features a balance of "traditional" Irish music and "Celtic" music, and is known as a forum for both rising new artists and special reunions. IRISH FOLK FEST FROM WOLF TRAP features Sean Keane, Les Freres Brunet, Capercaillie and the 50th anniversary reunion of the legendary Tulla Ceili Band. Irish dance teacher Mick Mulkerrin and the Set Dancers and the Champion Irish Step Dancers featuring Donny Golden and Cara Butler join forces with the Tulla Ceili Band for select songs. National Public Radio host Fiona Ritchie offers an insider's perspective on the festival. IRISH FOLK FEST FROM WOLF TRAP captures the festival's exhilarating rush of excitement and emotion in a riveting one-hour music video-style presentation of performances, interviews and behind-the-scenes highlights from the festivities. No one at the festival saw it like this!
IRISH FOLK FEST FROM WOLF TRAP continues WLIW21's commitment to programs that celebrate the heritage of tri-state area viewers. This original WLIW21 Production follows our previous tribute to Irish Americans, MAY THE ROAD RISE TO MEET YOU.
