In today’s economy, a “moment of luxury” can be difficult to find, and might seem impossible to experience. And that’s where award-winning international designer Bill Stubbs comes to the rescue. Bill, recognized by Architectural Digest on its list of top 100 designers, specializes in “affordable luxury.” The second season of his public television series, Moment of Luxury, invites viewers to discover the beauty around them and find excellence in the everyday. Bill shares design secrets from top designers that can work within any budget. Filmed in high definition, the series brings Bill Stubbs’ design philosophy to life in 13, half-hour episodes. Moment of Luxury is presented nationally by WLIW21 in association with WNET.ORG.

From stunning Show House rooms on New York City’s Upper East Side, to the inspiring restoration of a family home in Galveston destroyed by Hurricane Ike, Moment of Luxury’s second season takes a fresh look at attainable luxury and how to add a simple “moment of luxury” to your everyday life. Bill shows how anyone can create a unique room for next to nothing with imagination, some thrift shopping – even “dumpster diving!” Bill shows viewers how unusual collections can transform a house, how to create a one-of-a-kind room inspired by precious childhood memories, easy ways to enjoy a successful organic garden, and more.

This season, Bill finds luxury close to home in the United States and Canada. Stateside, viewers will enjoy trade secrets in the design capital of New York and join Bill in his home state of Texas to learn how to compost and harvest in the garden for easy, inexpensive outdoor entertaining and discover the origins of Mission design in San Antonio. Bill visits Connecticut for renovation and design tips from celebrated interior designer and best-selling author Bunny Williams at the magical 18th-century house and garden she restored as a labor of love and spends a weekend in Litchfield County, Connecticut that feels like a trip to the European countryside (for a much less luxurious budget). Across the border to the north, Bill finds inspiration in Montréal’s French Quarter and Québec City.

Bill invites viewers for vicarious moments of luxury as he goes behind the scenes at Sotheby’s with Antiques Roadshow’s Leslie Keno; visits Edith Wharton’s renowned home, The Mount, in the Berkshires in Massachusetts for a wonderful dinner inspired by a meal in The Age of Innocence; joins legendary designer and author Gloria Vanderbilt in the beautiful room she created based on her favorite room from the 1940s for the Kips Bay Show House; and enjoys a “moment of luxury” with chocolate maker Jacques Torres.

One of the Architectural Digest “AD 100” list of the World’s Top Designers and Architects, Bill Stubbs has been president of William W. Stubbs and Associates, an international interior design firm, for more than 25 years. His award-winning designs include renovations of historical buildings, private homes and estates, vacation retreats, commercial multi-family properties, community housing projects for the elderly and the interior design of a large corporate jet. So far I only saw the first episode ( St. James Hotel de Paris). I absolutely love this program, it is right up my alley. And I’m sure he doesn’t mean to be but, Mr. Stubs’ personality is quite comical to me. Good job WLIW21 keep up the good work.

Finally! Civility in a world gone crazy! Thank you for creating such a wonderful program. I especially appreciate the camera work…never rushed…it allows a person to actually see things. In addition, the way you edit in still shots along the way adds a great deal. I hope Mr. Stubbs never tires of making this fascinating program.

Hello, i am a 24 year old college student in the wonderful state of michigan. i am currently studying to become an successful interior designer; every since i knew what my name, i was fascinated in wonderful interiors and great arcitecture. But until i started watching our show Mr. Bill Stubbs i now cant wait to finish school and start desinging homes and other dwellings. Hopefully i can one day get to become an employee of yours and/or work under you. your designs are wonderfully put together and i pray to have the oppertunity you have to bring interiors together effortlessly as well as smiles to the owners of whatever i design. i watch your show atleast 10 times a day and look forward to seeing what new wonderful interiors you create. its ironic i find myself walking through beautiful michigan neighborhoods, looking at the homs and hoping to one day reside or decorate one. Thank you for being my inspiration and most of all my idol…..Desmond Thompson.

What a great show to showcase how we all can look inside our selves and find our moments of luxury. We should all dust off our “good stuff” and use them everyday. Enjoy the shows. Great ideas.

The Edith Wharton program was interesting for the way Wharton’s life was sanitized for broadcast. Her reasons for staying in France were a bit more complex than “she loved France.”

Each show is better than the last. I love the reruns so I can see them again. I wish PBS would settle on on regular time. I worry when I don’t see you in the regularly slotted time.

Bravo! Would love to see your show renewed season after season. Thank you for sharing your gift with us.
