HI.
All of the above suggestions won't do you much good if you were so spoiled that you just HAD to have a big screen LCD or Plasma tv set, a dishwasher or clothes dryer or electric garbage disposal.
I have NONE of those & do just fine. Is is so hard to wash dishes by hand or hang clothes on the line in the basement?
& I have a big screen TV 32" but it is aToshiba TUBE set & uses only 95 watts of power!! I did my homework!!
Did you do yours? Take a look at the back of your TV sets!!!
They all use 3 times or more!!! electricity than my set does!!!!!!!! wtf
Be very ashamed of yourselves.
At least trade your sets in for a new LED set, but will it cost you!!!
They should NEVER have come out with such TV sets.
ALSO I HAVE A 1972 HOTPOINT 12 CUBIC FOOT REFRIGERATOR THAT IS NOT FROST FREE. you read that right.
I RECENTLY BOUGHT A NEW 2010 "ENERGY STAR" 14 CUBIC FOOT REFRIGERATOR THAT IS FROST FREE & MY ELECTRIC BILL WENT UP!!! you read that right!!
I SOLD THE NEW FRIG TO MY NEIGHBOR & REPLUGGED MY 1972 FRIG BACK IN THE OUTLET.!!!
wtf is going on?
Energy star is bullshit!! Except with a/c's - see below.
ALSO, IN THE OLD DAYS THEY DID BETTER THAN RECYCLE - THEY SOLD COKE IN GLASS BOTTLES FOR 10 cent a bottle & when you were done you would take them back to the store & leave them there. The soda companies then took them back & WASHED them & reused them!!!!
I cant even find coke in bottles by me today, let alone other brands, let alone rewashing programs.
Think about it - how much petroleum does it take to make & recycle(melt & remake) plastic bottles? - another big mistake compared to washing bottles.
I suggest you contact the soda & water companies about this & also the refrigerator & tv manufacturers.
1 area they did do good was in window air conditioners.
My 1957 5200 btu a/c increased my electric bill from $26 to $230 a month!! lol
My 8000 btu 2003 energy star a/c reduced the bill to $35!! amazing!!
