Celtic Thunder – Take Me Home DVD & CD AVAILABLE NOW EXCLUSIVELY through public television!

By popular demand, WLIW21 in association with WNET.ORG presents the all-male vocal group’s second concert special, Celtic Thunder – Take Me Home, premiering nationwide on public television June 2009 (check local listings). The new special features new songs and audience favorites, and showcases a more mature, dynamic group. Damian McGinty, the youngest member – now in deeper voice and standing one foot-and-a-half taller – performs “Happy Birthday Sweet 16” and “Breaking Up is Hard to Do” like a young Neil Sedaka or Frankie Valli. Ryan Kelly’s dark destroyer persona emerges during his rendition of The Police’s “Every Breath You Take.” George Donaldson’s charisma and humor shines through during his energetic delivery of The Proclaimers’ hit “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles),” and Paul Byrom reaches new vocal heights with “You Raise Me Up.” Blonde surfer hunk Keith Harkin is set to steal more hearts singing Don McLean’s “Castles in the Air,” during which he also plays guitar. Powerful ensemble numbers include “Working Man,” “Take Me Home” and an a cappella rendition of “Danny Boy.” The Irish classic was added to Celtic Thunder’s concert repertoire after their hugely successful 2009 St. Patrick’s Day performances along Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue during the parade and later that evening at the White House for President Obama’s family and guests – the highlight of the whirlwind first year of their U.S. career.

Since their U.S. debut in March 2008 on public television, Celtic Thunder has spent over 45 weeks at the top of the Billboard World Music Charts and played in front of over 200,000 people on their North American tours. Their fans, known as “Thunderheads,” just can’t get enough. To sate fans’ desire until the next tour, producer Sharon Browne filmed Celtic Thunder’s April 21, 2009 performance at Casino Rama in Ontario, Canada to create Celtic Thunder – Take Me Home.

The guys are unbelievably great, I love them but Take Me Home just doesn’t live up to the Program filmed in Dublin. There was just no comparison. Maybe it was rushed a little too much.

Loretta Ebner -- June 8th, 2009 at 3:29 pm

I’m waiting impatiently for Celtic Thunder’s new DVD/CD to come out. Their show in March was superb, and I can’t wait until October 17 for their show in Baltimore. What a wonderfully talented group of singers.

linda unger -- June 11th, 2009 at 6:15 pm

I love this group! I hope the performance I saw on mpt. isn’t the one that is going to be on the dvd. The filming and lighting were horrible. Please do better. Couldn’t believe Damians deep voice.

Eileen -- June 16th, 2009 at 3:00 pm

I think the show is terriffic! I saw it at the Beaco Theater and have tickets to the Tilles Center, I can’t wait. They all have changed, should I say grown, in their performances, a real joy to be part of!

A great experience just watching you on TV and loved the video. After reading the list of songs on the latest c.d., I was disappointed. We already have them on your previous videos and c.d. Hope you will come up with something entirely new. Don’t shor change yourselves. You are great performers and deserve better, as do your fans.

ed hall -- June 18th, 2009 at 2:59 pm

I agree with Ellen & Linda. We bought the DVD of The Show
and it is far superior to the Take Me Home show. Have to see the DVD before buying it..

Leo Cartwright AUSTRALIA -- June 23rd, 2009 at 9:07 am

A great group, great singers, great quality.
1: I do hope you read your fans mail
2: I hope you reply to them.
I wish you well in all your ventures.
God Bless
Leo

Check out their Web site - http://www.celticthunder.ie for their 2009 tour schedule. Can’t wait until they come to L.A. in November!

Carolyn Palermo -- June 24th, 2009 at 3:08 am

I’m hooked, I love them so much I guess I’m a thunderhead! I listen to them every day. I love George’s new song, I think it’s great. I love seeing Damien growing up, I love Ryan period!!!!! He’s my man. And Keith is beautiful and so talented not to mention Paul who is funny and as a beautiful voice. I love the way they interact with each other not to mention their music! God blesss them I hope to see them more and more (I saw them at the Nokia Theatre in L.A. it was the thrill of my life. I think Ryan’s microphone should be turned up that’s the only thing. Their beautiful in every way and I don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t hear and see them anymore. I feel like a crazy teen when I see them. I just can’t say how much I love them!!!!!!

Claire -- June 29th, 2009 at 5:14 pm

I agree, the take me home show doesn’t do them justice. It looks like it was put together in a hurry
with no theme or center. And the lighting was awful. I loved the new take me home song, and George and Paul’s numbers were great. I love Ryan most of all, but his song was terrible and throughout the concert you could hardly see his face. Too much time was focused on Damian, who, now with the voice change, sounds mediocre at best.

Colleen -- July 1st, 2009 at 3:13 pm

Enviro -- July 13th, 2009 at 8:09 pm

I must say, Celtic Thunder is changing from what I saw in the video. It is turning into a rock- like thing, and I am not sure I like it. However, Celtic Thunder is a very talented group, so it will be acceptable. I like classical music, not rock!

Rick Reese -- July 21st, 2009 at 5:26 pm

Since I originally saw Celtic Thunder on public television I have since bought the DVD of their Dublin show and have seen it at least 100 times. Loved that show. However their latest show was a big disappointment. Lighting was terrible and the entire show did not measure up to their Dublin show. Sorry for that.

Linda U -- July 26th, 2009 at 3:53 pm

The cd&dvd came out on July 14. I am disappointed with the dvd, Thstage was too small andthe lighting was bad. I did love George playing with the audience, still getting ussdd to Damians deeper voice. Wish they had filmed the dvd in Dublin again.I do love the cd, they are all soooo talented.

Cati -- August 2nd, 2009 at 5:25 pm

Leatha Stone -- August 12th, 2009 at 5:56 pm

Where will you be in person in Florida. I would like to know where I can get tickets.

Estelle -- September 11th, 2009 at 9:07 pm

Celtic Thunder, the best to come out of Ireland! Love them, but disappointed in their latest CD, we don’t want to hear rock that we can hear in the U.S.anytime. Hope they will be in Phila. or Trenton soon! Saw their 1st. 2 Concets - want to see more!!!!!

Eileen -- October 10th, 2009 at 8:07 pm

I saw their show at the Tilles Center Thursday night, October 8, 2009. The show was wonderful even though there were a few technical problems. Most everyone knows their work. They just keep getting better with each show!! Waiting for the next show….I love that they dont drop their indiviual accents, why should they. Makes me very proud to be 2nd generation Irish American!

Beverly -- October 15th, 2009 at 6:55 pm

I just saw the CT in Boston at the Wang - unbelievable - probably, the very best concert I’ve ever seen (and I’ve seen plenty) - I’m obsessed with the whole group - can’t get enough of them - individually, they are just amazing - as long as I’m breathing, I will never, ever miss seeing them when they’re in New England

Eleanor -- October 27th, 2009 at 10:02 pm

I saw CT at Tilles. The seating was so close to the stage I could almost touch the lads. They were just wonderful. Met Keith and Ryan, they could not have been kinder and nicer. They are so natural and humble. I hope they continue CT for a long, long time.
