In Long Island Conversations, Jim Paymar interviews Pulitzer Prize-winning author Doris Kearns Goodwin, a native Long Islander who grew up in Rockville Centre and graduated from South Side High School.

Goodwin shares how growing up on Long Island influenced her best-selling memoir Wait Till Next Year and ignited her passion for American political history; her book, Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln became the basis for Steven Spielberg’s 2012 Academy Award-winning film Lincoln. Goodwin also reveals her experiences while penning her next book, The Bully Pulpit: Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, and the Golden Age of Journalism.
