Where was Imogene Coca in Funny Ladies? What an ommission!

Imogene Coca is indeed a funny lady and was part of the Pioneers of Television coverage in the “Variety Shows” episode in a prior season. See a photo of Coca and Sid Caesar in “Show of Shows” on the Variety Shows program page of the site http://www.pbs.org/wnet/pioneers-of-television/

I realize they’re pretty much forgotten today, but I recall enjoying shows featuring funny ladies Joan Davis, Gale Storm and Cara Williams, when I was very young. Rather sad that their fame faded with the years and their tv programs stopped airing, even in syndication.

i watched the Funny Ladies and was very upset that the program just glossed over Gertrude Berg and her series The Goldbergs and then later Molly. During the early 1950′s she was one of the first woman who wrote and produced her own show. Shame on you PBS.
