A Bequest to WLIW

For many people, a bequest in their will allows them to be much more generous than they ever thought possible. As you think about how you might help the station, please keep this in mind.

You Decide

In your will, you have choices as to how you name WLIW as a beneficiary and when you would like us to use your bequest. Whichever you select, it is important that your attorney know that bequests should be made to "Educational Broadcasting Corporation, 450 West 33rd Street, New York, NY 10001." Our federal tax identification number is 13-1945149.

  • One possibility is a bequest of a fixed dollar amount. You specify exactly how much you would like the station to receive.
  • Another is to give EBC a percentage of the estate. This makes good sense if you don't have a clear idea of how much your estate will be worth at your death.
  • Finally, many people prefer to designate the residuary estate or a portion of it. Once other heirs are provided for, whatever may be left goes to your favorite television station.

To Restrict Your Bequest

If you would like your bequest to be restricted for use by WLIW you can do so. The following suggested language will be of interest to your attorney.

"I give and bequeath to the Educational Broadcasting Corporation with its offices at 450 West 33rd Street, New York, NY 10001, ($___, or __% of my estate, or my residuary estate) for use in connection with public television station WLIW"

You could also direct that we either use your bequest when it is received by us, or that we add it to the EBC endowment and the income from the endowment be used to support WLIW.

Please let us know
