Trans Siberian Orchestra Violinist’s Solo TV Debut
Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

Emmy Award-winning composer and acclaimed electric violinist Mark Wood fuses pairings of powerful opposites – electric and violin, symphonic and rock – to create a unique musical experience. Embracing the power of rock, the diversity of world beat and the elegance of classical music – all while playing his revolutionary Viper electric violin, Wood is redefining the concept of stringed instruments and the sounds they can produce for the 21st century. Tomorrow at 9 p.m., WLIW21 presents the exclusive broadcast premiere of The Mark Wood Experience, his first TV special since leaving Tran Siberian Orchestra. In this new half-hour performance special, Mark Wood performs his original compositions with vocalist Laura Kaye (James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Lenny Kravitz) and his electric string orchestra. Songs include “Vivaldi Rocks,” “World Vision,” “Hoedown,” and “Hands Across the Ocean.”
