Season Six has arrived! Watch the previews…

Don’t miss the long-awaited U.S. broadcast premiere of MI-5 season five Mondays at 9:50 p.m. beginning December 14 on WLIW21. Known in the U.K. as Spooks, the action-packed spy drama takes us into the thrilling world of Britain’s clandestine security service, MI-5, and the people who make up the elite team. Season five kicks off the season with an explosive two-part special that finds Britain left reeling after a series of terrorist attacks. Combined with chronic fuel shortages, the attacks plunge the country into crisis. As a chronically weakened Prime Minister fights to hold onto power, the public mood turns increasingly anarchic. MI-5 supremo Harry Pearce (Peter Firth) and team leader Adam Carter (Rupert Penry-Jones) begin to face the horrifying possibility that the country is under attack from sinister forces right at the heart of the establishment. So begins a dangerous game of bluff and counter-bluff as the team struggles to preserve the status quo. In the premiere, Anna Chancellor (Suburban Shootout; Fortysomething) resumes her role as Juliet Shaw, National Security Coordinator, while season five also sees the welcome return of Tim McInnerny (Blackadder), resuming his role as Oliver Mace, Chairman of the Joint Intelligence Committee and Harry’s sometime friend and adversary.

Preview part one, premiering Monday, December 14 at 9:50 p.m.

In part one of the season five premiere, a terror attack on a gas and oil depot has led to energy rationing and people are dying of cold. The media are blaming weak leadership and one media group in particular is peddling anti-Government propaganda. As a team of conspirators deliberately tries to destabilize Britain, the MI-5 team struggles to preserve the status quo.

Preview part two, premiering Monday, December 21 at 9:50 p.m.

In part two, the conspirators gain an advantage and have direct control over a terrified and weakened Prime Minister, who is ready to announce the introduction of “special measures to protect democracy” essentially turning Britain into a dictatorship.

Watch or set your DVR to WLIW21 Mondays at 9:50 p.m. to continue following the new adventures of MI-5. Visit the schedule page for information on future episodes.

I started watching Mi 5 recently. Are there any plans to air the early/beginning editions of this great show?

VERY frustrating not to have the printed & posted WLIW monothly schedule. Can not find when & if repeats are available. It is a geata channel. I realize the cost of printing a program. Can some sor of “deal” be made with PBS 13 to include 21’s schedule? OR can those of us who want a program gide similiar to the one published in the past, be asked to pay for it? Highlights is fine – bu does not fit the bill … Thank you ECJ

Excellent show with a bit more realism. No James Bond here. The most recent episode, which played on our pre-judgement that it’s got to be a Muslim terrorist if hostages are being held and killed, was especially good. As usual, it’s the ‘un-heros’ that save the day with little fanfare. Note to Wayne at WLIW: More please!

Have you switched MI5 from Mondays to other days? It’s hard to follow, but I need to know in order to organize a series recording. Thank you for broadcasting the show, which I have been following (choppily) from A&E to BBC and now to Channel 21!

Just found MI5 about three weeks ago and it’s fantastic on your station. Love it. Want more. Season 5 was in 2006. Can you please do more, more. Thanks.

Now that you’ve finished airing Series 5 (2006) of MI-5, is there a plan to air Series 6 (2007) through 8 (2009)? Or does PBS not own the rights to those seasons?

Will you continue with MI-5? I am looking forward. It’s way better than “24″. Thank you.
