Solicitor Jane Kennedy (Claire Goose, Unforgotten on Masterpiece) returns to the seaside town in Devon she left as a teenager to take up the post of coroner, becoming an advocate for the dead as she investigates sudden, violent or unexplained deaths. With a new and intriguing case to investigate in each episode, Jane finds herself having to work with her former boyfriend, now the local detective. The Coroner combines mystery with the lighthearted drama of Jane’s relationships with her family and the community. While Jane is talented and tenacious in seeking justice for the dead, her personal life is a bit more haphazard.
The BBC series premiered in 2015 and is set in scenic Devon, the county where Poldark on Masterpiece and Delicious unfolds.
The Coroner will air in the time slot of EastEnders, which WLIW21 proudly brought to Long Island homes since 1997. As it is no longer available, we will air our final two episodes of EastEnders on Tuesday, November 2 at 10 p.m. Join us as we say farewell to this beloved series and welcome The Coroner the following Tuesday, which we will air weekly with two back-to-back episodes.
