A Note From WPPB General Manager Diane Masciale

Diane Masciale | March 21, 2020

On March 18th, 88.3FM WPPB—the only NPR station on Long Island—was purchased by WNET, America’s flagship PBS station and the parent company of WLIW21—the only PBS station on Long Island. WPPB now becomes part of a legacy public media company which has been serving the Long Island community for 50 years.

What does this mean? It means that WPPB is now part of a solid and thriving public media enterprise whose mission is to engage, enrich and inspire. It means that you will continue to hear your favorite hosts, music and thoughtful NPR news programming with some enhancements—including, in time, improvements to the station’s signal and sound quality. And it means that your support of listener-supported WPPB will continue to help the station grow and thrive.

I’m excited to welcome WPPB into the WLIW family and am looking forward to the future. If you have any questions or feedback, please contact us here (select “WLIW FM”).
