Heart of the East End – March 14th, 2022

Catherine Galasso, City of Wom_n

Guild Hall’s newest William P. Rayner artist-in-residency discusses developing new dance work, City of Wom_n. The work travels through New York City’s five boroughs to celebrate past “SHEroes” Congresswoman Shirley Chisolm, prima ballerina Maria Tallchief, bearded sideshow performer Lady Olga, LES poet Diane Burns & celebrity transwoman Christine Jorgensen during her time in East Hampton. Galasso was inspired by Rebecca Solnit’s iconic women-centered subway map.
