Donna Weng Friedman, HOTsounds Underwritten by William RIS Gallery
Award-winning pianist and music producer Donna Weng Friedman — A board member of Friends of Thirteen and WNET among her many roles — discusses how an incident involving a man shouting anti-Asian slurs at her while she walked her dog in NYC during the pandemic’s onset served as the inspiration behind her Global Music Award-winning album, “Heritage and Harmony: Silver Linings.” The album exclusively features AAPI/BIPOC artists and aims to promote understanding and tolerance while combating racism with all proceeds supporting the AAPI community and fights against racism. The first in-person “Heritage and Harmony” performance will take place this Sunday at 4 p.m. in the heart of Greenwich Village at the Tenri Cultural Institute during the heart of Asian Pacific Heritage Month. Tickets are found on Eventbrite.
