Unique Book Discussion and Museum Tour (In-Person)

Join Librarians from Emma Clark Library for a docent-led tour at The Long Island Museum‘s Two Centuries of Long Island Women Artists, 1800 – 2000 exhibit (meet in front of the Carriage House). Following the tour there will be a discussion, led by Emma Clark Librarian Carolyn Emerson, of the book Fierce Poise: Helen Frankenthaler and 1950s New York by Alexander Nemerov. This artist broke ground with her unique painting method in abstract expressionism. She spent time on Long Island in the company of painters Pollock, Krasner, the de Koonings, and others. This in-person event will be held on Wednesday, May 18 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Register at Program is open to residents or non residents; however, nonresidents are responsible for obtaining their own books. This is a unique learning experience, and Emma Clark Library is thrilled to collaborate with the Long Island Museum and offer this opportunity! Participants must adhere to Museum safety measures.
