Intrepid Theatricals in partnership with LTV presents Christopher Durang’s 2013 Tony Award-winning play, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike opening Thursday May 26th and running through Sunday May 29th at LTV, 75 Industrial Road, Wainscott, NY, 11975 Directed by Bay Street Theater’s Director of Education and Community Outreach, Allen O’Reilly, the cast features John Leonard as Vanya, Teresa DeBerry as Sonia, Andrea Schiavoni as Masha, NYC actor Connor Tuohy as Spike, Anna Schiavoni as Nina and Catherine Bromberg plays Cassandra. The set and costumes are designed by Andrea Schiavoni. “While Durang is quoted as saying that he took many of characters and themes from Anton Chekhov’s major plays and threw them in a blender to create Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, no previous knowledge of Chekhov is required to truly enjoy this bitter sweet and often hilarious comedy” Director O’Reilly says. “The names and situations may be similar to the famous Russian’s playwright’s masterworks to a degree, but what we truly get in VSMS is a funny, rich, touching and very contemporary play that deals with everything from millennials, to the theater and film industries, to aging gracefully to global warming!” The show will run May 26th-29th, 2022. Showtimes are Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:00pm, with matinees on Saturday and Sunday at 2:00pm.
